What I’ll be teaching? Using Classical progress techniques, you will sketch, draw and paint from life, developing your observation of form and light and anatomy. The principals used, are the basis for any subject matter, we will use portraiture to build your confidence after all, humans are animals too !
Julie Askew has traveled extensively sketching and painting the natural wonders of our planet. With her philosophy of only painting what she has observed for herself, her pile of field sketchbooks continually grows providing inspiration and reference for her studio paintings. Though her subjects are usually wildlife and landscape, she has produced many cultural portraits.
Julie is active in art and conservation as the International Director on the Board of the Society of Animal Artists, Founder of Oman Wild Art – introducing wildlife art to the Middle East and one of the International group, Artist Ambassadors Against Poaching, highlighting the poaching crisis of elephants.
Julie is an experienced teacher and lecturer, having led art groups of all ages worldwide.
